How J!UM Works

1. Check

J!UM connects through the secured connector and retrieves the project status, installed extensions and available extension updates.

2. Back Up

Optionally, start a fresh Akeeba backup before updating extensions.

3. Update

Selected components, modules, plugins and templates are updated per project or in bulk.

4. Verify

J!UM then reloads the current project and extension status, making errors or remaining maintenance tasks visible.

5. Log

Results, messages and timestamps remain traceable in the history and job overview.

Joomla Core updates are not part of this workflow.
They continue to be handled directly by Joomla or through the configured automatic Core update process.

Integrations

Already using Akeeba Backup Pro or HTProtect? J!UM can optionally integrate both tools into the central maintenance workflow.

Backups can be started for individual or multiple projects and their status can be monitored centrally. Outdated backups are clearly highlighted.

HTProtect provides additional information about protection status as well as connected site, core file and malware scans.

Even without these integrations, project management, status overview, extension inventory, extension updates, background jobs and logs remain fully available.

Administrative maintenance requires trust. J!UM accepts connector connections exclusively over HTTPS, stores sensitive credentials in encrypted form and protects write operations with permission and CSRF checks.

Job locks, heartbeats and limited retries help stabilize persistent background processes. External messages and output are sanitized and rendered according to context.

J!UM operates deliberately within its defined scope: centralized management and updating of Joomla extensions. Joomla Core maintenance remains Joomla's responsibility.
